Bought a new pistol today

Postby RowdyGSP » Mon Jun 15, 2020 9:05 pm

Couldn't pass up the deal of $120 for this Heritage Rough Rider, 22lr with a 22wmr cylinder. Shot a cylinder of 22lr through it when I got home and was hitting 4" target at 15 yards. Gonna be a fun little plinker and my everyday gun on the trap line.

Looks nice. Look better ridin' on your hip.

You'll probably find the WMR ammo to be more accurate than LR because the barrel is bored to fit the larger diameter WMR bullet. When buying WMR ammo, be aware a lot of it is loaded with slow burning powder meant to be fired in rifles and won't perform well in short barrels. There are at least two manufacturers (probably more) loading pistol ammo.

A 22cal bore is a 22cal bore doesn't matter if it is LR or mag. Nice little gun. Forrest

Yeah Harvey, it is all .224 diameter. And just to be sure I just took calipers to both the magnum and lr. .224 both of 'em. Everything from .22 short to .224 valkyrie has the same diameter. On another note, I shot 50 more rounds of lr through it and it's proving to be a fun little gun. 2" groups and 25 yards and hitting 4" steel at 5 yards. Even hit the 3" target once at 50 yards. Shot 6 rounds of 22 mag through it tonight at 3" target at 50 and had slightly bigger misses than with 22lr.
