Griff puppy boredom

Postby HMR » Sat Nov 21, 2020 11:48 am

Griff owners any trips or tricks to deal with their boredom while training? My griff is 15 weeks old, incredibly smart she just gets bored really fast and I’m having a hard time keeping her engaged while training.

Thanks.

Pretty typical. Two or three repititions then do something else. How is the training actually going? At this age it best to keep your expectations fairly low.

GWP guy here. I use treats as one key to keeping their interest up. I skip a day or two if I see real boredom setting in and also rotate subjects day to day.

Griffs are normally ready to move on to the next thing a lot quicker than we are. Like orhunter said...keep it short. The "one more time" is when problems start.

Birds work wonders for a dogs focus and attitude. There needs to be something in it for the dog.

Training at this pup's age should be extremely casual, nothing regimented. There is no timeline to assess progress, it'll happen on its own schedule.
