Wow, looks like Garmin actually LISTENED to all the bitching about the Alpha and totally redesigned it. I'm impressed. If it works, should obsolete the 100 and 550+. We'll see. Terrific innovations though.
I just hate seeing birds die of natural causes unless I'm that natural cause.

Maybe leave the Astro in the dust, but I think the 550+ will have a place. Some guys just like K.I.S.S.

I agree that the 550plus will have its place. The $400 difference means I can get a second collar and or a Garmin smart watch which is the information I need 90% of the time.
You never have to tell a dog what time to be home, give them the keys, and they never ask for money.

I sure don't see it replacing the 550 plus. Like the Alpha it has more features than I and must of us hunters need or want. Most of us just want something simple to tell us where our dog is and also be able to correct them if needed.

It's for those of us who NEED GPS as well as location.

I wish they could do away with subscriptions. It seems like you are paying up front for functionality and them having to pay monthly to use it.
I will keep my 430 and my cell phone for now.
