Help Name Our Pup

Postby gjw » Wed May 15, 2019 9:53 am

Hi all, as some of you know, we're getting a new GSP pup.  So help us name her.  Of course the wife and kids have the finial say!  If you have a name that's not on the poll, please post it, you never know.

Thanks!

Many breeders have a letter designation for each litter; A for the first, B second and so on. All the registerd names from the A litter would begin with that letter: Allan, Ajax, Alice, Alana, etc. I always liked my pups call name to be the same or similar to their registered name, which is possible if you get your selected name submitted to the breeder before they assign a registered name. If you want to go that route, check with the breeder to see if they use that system and what the litter letter will be. You can get pretty creative with it. Some of my past selections were Cacei, Aubie (from my alma mater's mascot), Deke, Beaudacious (Beau) PhD. (Doc) Duzitall (Duz) Gustov (Gus).
I've had several really good dogs, but none were perfect. Neither am I, so keep that in mind!

Madchen is German for girl, so "Maddie".

I’m partial to dog names that are not human names. Or at least are not common human names. Rainy, Barley, Cedar, Tuff, Darby....

I've used Holly, Tara, Ouzel (Oz) and more recently Gypsy for a Czech import.

Probably a good idea to keep these things apolitical. Not everyone has the same view.

I voted for Heidi. Check your spelling.

I like a name that associates with the country of origin of the dog. Thus Heidi.
