If CHD was genetic, why aren't BOTH hips affected ?
The majority of the time, CHD is unilateral.
But there must be some kind of genetic component.....
Breeding Excellent x Excellent = 3.5% rate of dysplasia whereas
breeding Dysplastic x Dysplastic - 25% chance of dysplasia.

2. Secondly, If people suspect their dog is having trouble getting up, they are much more likely to have the dog tested as compared to those that see no sign of HD.
