Ideas for kids

Postby SMAbby » Mon Mar 16, 2020 10:43 pm

I judged this past weekend and had a great time. I noticed that on Saturday we had a record number of Rabbit Tappers to be PC about it. :D 4 of them were between the ages of 9 and 14. As the day went on and the rabbits were produced, I began to think that these kids should be recognized for their work. After all they were directly helping this test run smoothly.
With no where to go buy anything and nothing on hand, I decided to put up the first $20.00 into the kitty. By the end of the day we were able to provide each child with a club hat as a thank you for their hard work.
Sunday, another handler donated 2 double sided whistles to be handed it out to our youth helpers.

Going forward, I would like to get some ideas that these small clubs can purchase without breaking the bank to show these kids that they had a hand in the days events.

If anyone has any ideas....I am all ears!

I think the club hat is a great idea, or a club T shirt. Forrest

SMAbby, I have been thinking about your request and have not landed on anything perfect but I am thinking about our need to recruit more shooters and hunters.

Wondered about giving them a gift certificate to shooting a round at a local gun club or range maybe. Maybe invite em back to a released bird hunt put on by the Club hosting the test they worked at. Would require Hunter Safety certifications I expect and adequate adult supervision. Could be off track of what you were thinking, but this is the direction my mind goes to, trying to both show appreciation and give them a reason to take up the sport we all love and enjoy.

Would love to do hats or shirts, but at $25.00 a pop it isnt practical.

I like the idea of a gift certificate to shoot a round. But we had 7 year olds and with schedules these days, some parents may not be able to get them back to participate.

It almost has to be something on the spot.......

Keep your mind going AG, we might just stumble on something.

Whistles......I could just imagine the parents would love us for this one!

Add the $25 cost of the club shirt or hat to the people testing, if they don't have beaters they don't have rabbits , they don't have a score. Forrest

Do they sell embroidered patches of the JGHV Logo? That would be cool and inexpensive I would think.

Get them each a swiss army knife. They can be had in the $25 price range, and for that price you can also order them with a custom message printed on them. It's something they can actually use, and keep forever.
