Had a great trip for Prairie Chickens but mostly difficult hunting conditions e.g. Cold, High Winds, Rain which made for flocked up and mostly unapproachable grouse. Many Grouse flushed wild at 200-400 yards as we hunted. The grouse that held for the dog's points too often flushed wild as we approached the dogs. But we shot grouse every day and the last day was a jewel. Finally it was Sunny, low wind, high 40s. Spud had 8 productive points on Prairie Chickens and Sharptails and 5 on Pheasants that day. I had a limit in my vest and was taking photos of Spud pointing more on the way back to the truck. Got some great photos but not sure how well they will show up here due to pixel limiting the size to medium (used to be able to post large which was MUCH BETTER hint hint admin).
Spud pointing a small group of Chickens. They did not hold long enough for me to get in range. We covered a whole lot of prairie each day. Spud put in an average of 21 miles a day for 5 days straight, hunting on a run. Same the last day as the first, with my legs giving out before his did.
