Dog has GERD?

Postby Beech » Mon Dec 19, 2016 11:32 am

Ive never had a dog that burps but this 10 month WPG burps a few times a day. Also telling is that she is not a chow hound, not eager to dive into her bowl like most dogs Ive owned. She has enough fat on her to tell me she isnt under fed (purina pro plan for puppy) Is it possible she has or may develop a reflux issue and is this something that might worsen over her lifetime? Any suggestions on a different food? Thanks

What has your Vet said about it ?
You can't have a proper treatment without an accurate diagnosis.

10 months is a long time to keep your dog on puppy food. Best to gradually switch to a more basic adult, 26/16, food over a couple of weeks. I'll suggest a low grain type, no corn, no Canola Oil, and see how this works. If you are feeding more than once a day, the early meal should be no more than 20% of total intake. No raw hide treats, pig's ears and the like. No human food/table scraps. Make sure the entire family knows the rules.
