Postby Birddogs » Sat Dec 17, 2016 12:21 am

Some friends adopted a puppy ...it had a fall off the bed ....was
Limping and favouring it's back leg . Vet says torn ACL , surgery
2 to 5 K . . I suggested another opinion . Certainly keep the
As quiet as possible . Also the dog is not favouring the leg
Nearly as much as a couple of days ago .
Any other suggestions or experiences . Thnx BD

Get another opinion for sure, but hind leg lameness in a large breed dog is ACL until proven otherwise. In a dog that young, Id get it fixed ASAP to minimize cartilage damage. Arthritis is inevitable either way.

Dogs with ACL tears commonly limp intermittently, so less of a limp actually supports the diagnosis.

Definitely get another opinion, either from a Vet Orthopedist or at a Vet College.
Then get back to us here.
