Had a great trip for Prairie Chickens but mostly difficult hunting conditions e.g. Cold, High Winds, Rain which made for flocked up and mostly unapproachable grouse. Many Grouse flushed wild at 200-400 yards as we hunted. The grouse that held for the dog's points too often flushed wild as we approached the dogs. But we shot grouse every day and the last day was a jewel. Finally it was Sunny, low wind, high 40s. Spud had 8 productive points on Prairie Chickens and Sharptails and 5 on Pheasants that day. I had a limit in my vest and was taking photos of Spud pointing more on the way back to the truck. Got some great photos but not sure how well they will show up here due to pixel limiting the size to medium (used to be able to post large which was MUCH BETTER hint hint admin).

Spud pointing a small group of Chickens. They did not hold long enough for me to get in range. We covered a whole lot of prairie each day. Spud put in an average of 21 miles a day for 5 days straight, hunting on a run. Same the last day as the first, with my legs giving out before his did.

I enjoyed it, Stretch. I love following my dog on those big open rolling grass prairies.

Thanks, I'm hoping we get into some woodcock as im.not expecting much on the grouse front. We still have most of our foliage on the trees so I'm not venturing too far from home yet. The last 48hrs I think she's hit the peak of her heat cycle because my neutered male is really going nuts now. I'm going to run the heck out of him on Saturday and try to get a couple hours in with her and keep a closer eye on her away from other dogs, etc in the woods. I hunt them seperate, rotating thru the day.

I was running them for exercise Wednesday evening and she did have a beautiful back of my older dog's point on 3 pheasants. I mean she just froze "on point" the second she saw his point. Went to snap a photo and realized my phone was in the vehicle.

A chukar in the mouth is worth two in the bush.
Sonny is looking pretty happy. He loves this country as much as I.

Wow great bull AG!

Took my ten year old son elk hunting last weekend and called this bull into 30 yards. He made a perfect shot with his crossbow and this bull didn't go 100 yards. Was a pretty cool experience to say the least.
