One armed Willie

Postby Willie T » Sun Sep 02, 2018 9:08 pm

My son came in from college for the Texas dove opener. It was a good time. My son has a broken forearm and can't pick up more than a coffee cup with his left arm right now. He shot my 410 OU one handed. There is no substitute for youth. The dove were feeding in chest high goat weed. The cover was such that it made it impossible for the dog to see out of to mark the birds down. That combined with temps in the 90's made for adverse conditions and some good dog work. Crickets slick coat is an asset in the hot weather and he holds up to it pretty well. The pic is my son with his birds and Cricket. After the hunt we grilled bacon wrapped dove breasts stuffed with jalapeƱo and cream cheese!

Sounds like a great day, and an awesome way to open the season.

Shooting doves with one arm and a .410. Only thing a guy could add to that would be a blindfold. :D My pile of doves would be much smaller.

Great stage of life for you, hunting with your Son and Cricket. Happy Hunting.
