drathaar breeders in the carolinas

Postby 30024grand » Fri Apr 20, 2018 9:16 am

Hello All
New to pointers and versatile dogs.
I am seriously considering a Darauthaar.
Everything I have read would indicate the dog is what I want. I want a dog that when sent into water does not run up and down the waters edge, or drinks water because he's anxious and nervous he just goes.
Part is good training but much is the dogs drive and desire.
I am in the Charlotte area. I thought I would need to go to a breeder in the midwest that both tests there dogs and hunts alot. Both pointing and water fowl work.
But I thought I would reach out and get some real opinions on DD breeders in the Carolinas.

thanks

Sorry no personal experience with breeders down there.

Good luck in your search,

There really aren't a lot of breeders in the Carolinas. You may need to expand your search to surrounding states.

Here's the current list of advertised litters.

Thanks Guys
There is or was a breeder Stillwasser in Gastonia NC, I cant reach him. What I was able to find was somewhat dated. He seems to take it very seriously and he would be less than an hour away.
Dont get me wrong I wont choose a breeder out of convenience but this guy seemed like the real deal.
His name is Scott Crabtree any one know him or had dealings with him?

any info is appreciated.
From my research a GWP and DD are exactly the same right????? JUST JOKING

I have read enough on this forum to know what a frenzy that question could Cause

There's no Scott Crabtree listed on the membership roster for VDD-GNA. He may not be breeding dogs anymore. You might contact other breeders in the Southeast hunter chapter, they might know what happened to him.

I'm in Iowa and expecting a litter in May. I've got one puppy headed your direction and another going to Kentucky. I suspect if dogs were readily available closer I wouldn't be sending mine to both ends of the country.

Lots of good litters coming soon from across the Midwest region. Go back through the expected litters page and see if anything catches your eye.

Vom Drakehouse is in South Carolina, I've seen a couple nice dogs from there.

I'll shoot you a PM with some guys to talk to.
