Lepto

Postby orhunter » Mon Dec 04, 2017 11:50 am

Not confirmed yet but blood test results should come in later today. Right now she's on Amoxicillin and has been since Saturday. Getting some food and water in her. She seems to be having some abdominal pain, walks kind of humped up. Has a fever, was 101.5 on Saturday. She slept outside last night in the leaves under the Blueberry bushes, temperature was 36/38 degrees. Thought we'd wake up to a dead dog but being a Griff, she's pretty much immune to cold but it's more the fever thing.

Have any of you dealt with this? What should I expect?

The source of the infection is the water in the lower Columbia River. It has a lot of Sealions in it and they have a small epidemic of Lepto going on right now. Has been over 70 of them die the past few weeks along the coast. This isn't unheard of.

Well, she doesn't have Lepto. She's full of cancer. She had 14 good years.

Sad to hear my friend.
But you had 14 good years together.
You were lucky to have had each other.

Harvey, sorry to hear about your dog. But 14 years is quite an accomplishment. Remember the good times you two had and be grateful for all those years. I went through this a year ago and my dog had just turned 8.

Very few VDoggers ever met her let alone hunt with her. KJ, Bruce Schwartz is about it who have hunted with her. KJ got to see how good she was and Bruce got to see how bad she was, the terrible two's. I've posted a bunch about our hunting trips here on V-Dogs but that was years ago when bird numbers were really good. Dunno if they're still in the archives? Sure shot a lot of Chukars and Huns over that little girl.

George... I know how special your girl was to you. I really do. Jay.... I admire you for what you tried to do with the breed and AKC. You're a good man.

You all have a good day.

Very sorry to hear this Harvey. I am right there with you. Put my avatar dog down last month. 11 years old, kidney failure. I still have the pm you sent telling me to post more pictures of "that gorgeous dog of yours".

On again, I am very sorry.

Hi Lee. How are you? I've sent a couple of DD prospects your way. Dunno if they ever contacted you. Hope you're doing well.

AZ D: I need more photos.... Slacker!!! Sorry about your dog also. 11 is awfully young. Seems to be a bad year for lots of folks.

I'll pick up Ellie's ashes this morning.

Very sad news Orhunter. Always painful to loose our GUN dogs. They never stick around long enough.
