A few days ago, I posted about "Shockwave" Therapy for orthopedic problems in dogs.
Here is a link to some new research on "Shockwave" Therapy.

I just got a Storz brand shockwave device (for human patients) two Mondays ago. I costs about as much as a new car. Still have it at home using it on my wife, myself and one of our dogs. On the three of us, the results have been astounding.
I'll have it up and running in my office on March 16.

This is really interesting stuff.

How much would this type of treatment cost? My sister has a dog that had torn both ACL's years ago, and has OA, he's a poor shaky thing presently, but a great dog. 10/yo lab.

Because it's so new, costs are all over the board.
I heard of one DVM in Canada that gets $600 for just one or two treatments for hip dysplasia, but $600 is pretty cheap when you realize that it's about $3600 for surgery. but probably on average it's $150 to $200 per treatment.
On humans, it will usually take 3 (maybe 4) treatments and the price range is from $350 to $500 --- for all three treatments. Dogs usually only need two treatments.

One of our dogs tore his CCL (ACL) 5 years ago. We fixed it with Cold Laser, but regardless of how it's fixed (TPLO, Tightrope etc) the joint will develop arthritis.
An arthritic knee is what we are treating our dog for.
After the first treatment, the 'bow' came out of his knee and the function of the knee was markedly improved. gave him his 2nd treatment last night.
The results are impressive.
