Water intro - Pointer pup

Postby yawallac » Fri Aug 03, 2012 1:45 pm

After looking at Howie's pic and reading that it was NA training at the water, I decided to take this pup to the pond this morning and tape his water introduction; good, bad or ugly just going to shoot it and upload it. This pup is 12 weeks old and I just got him shipped here two days ago from Gene Casale in CT. He is by Rail Dancer and a Guard Rail daughter that I bred, so he is a Guard Rail son bred to a Guard Rail daughter. I named him after his famous daddy, Danny. He has never seen a pond and never seen a bumper until this video.

Ross,
Nice pup! Aren't you sweating your butt off in those longs pants and long sleeves? Up here in OH it was over 80* by 8:00am.

So check this out, I took him back to the pond after chasing some johnny house quail this afternoon. He ran to the edge, jumped in ...and went swimming! He swam all the way out to that stump and then bee-lined over to the duck decoys all the way across the pond! The video camera was back at my computer but I did get a cell phone pic! 12 weeks old and there he goes, see ya!!

Good lookin pup. I can never let my dogs swim in my Mom's pond in SC because of Gators, you must be in a Gator free area. :D

Ross I totally expected to see you tossing flightless pigeons on the water for a first timer. I wish my pointer would get comfortable in the water, she does fine in clear water like in the video but add lily pads and growth and she just don't like it. Too bad because I would have put a VC on her.
