LCS Backer Dog Electronics Conversion

Has anyone tried to covert an LCS Backer Dog's electronics to a Dogtra or other brand receiver?

We have not converted, but we have bought the LCS dog collar remote and programmed it to the backing dog. By doing this you increase the range by...alot !
For the price of a new backer they dont give you a great remote.

Terry...yes. I've ordered a new one from LCS, but curious about alternatives to prevent from carrying another remote when training by myself.

Is it the transmitter or receiver? I had to replace the receiver on mine so afterwards I always disconnected the 9v battery on the receiver when stored. You might make sure the receiver is matched to the transmitter too.

I tried it with a Dogtra but my backer was one of the older units. I think yours is one of the newer units. I didn't have the right connector so I used jumpers to make the connections from the receiver to the motor circuit. The motor is DC and since my LCS receiver was bad I don't know if the motor circuit polarity was reversed by the receiver output to control the up or down position of the silhouette. It worked with the Dogtra but one problem I ran into was over travel of the mechanism. I don't know if the LCS receiver had a timing circuit that controlled the length of time the circuit was energized or there was limit switch that might be involved in the circuit.

It will be easier to retro-fit when you have a functional LCS control to compare to. Probably need a volunteer to check voltages or continuity.
