New pup on the block!

Postby ANick » Fri Feb 26, 2016 2:35 pm

The trip home, right on her 8th week 'birthday'.
Mostly just a sweet little, somewhat cute, converter of Puppy food into piddle, poo and little licks from that wee, pink tongue.
Occasionally audible.. oh dear lordy me!

Meet Iye vom Coraschatten, aka 'Dotty'. Iye is pronounced (eye-ya) ... don't think ye be needing help with "Dotty"?? :)
(Edit, I should have mentioned this.. Deutsch Langhaar)

Deuce,
I'm having a blast with the tyke. We got home Monday, which made her exactly 8 weeks old. It wasn't the fastest 750 miles I've ever covered with piddle breaks added in, but it was a fun trip nonetheless. She took to her little crate like a duck to water early in the trip. She's still scratching at her collar, but does a nice job of keeping a loose leash when we go out for a bit. She's sleeping well in her crate through the night. Crate training for house training has been a snap thus far. She has Sit and Sit till release at the doors/gates. Sit till release waiting for the food to be put down takes a few tries. This lass is very, very serious about her food. Her eating style is somewhere between a heavier Dyson and an Electrolux, with some promise of Shop Vac in her future. Work on accepting teeth, ears and toes to be looked at is ongoing but really well currently. Bath and some nail filing/trimming are on deck yet... both are in the realm of learn it early. If there's going to be a rumble over are we or are we not, I'd just as soon have her as a 15 lb opponent while we sort that out. I think she'll come around pretty quickly though. What else... umm... we've had a couple of rounds of 'play fetch' so far and also for Down (from a Sit). She picked up the Down command from the Sit, on our third and fourth tries. I wouldn't go so far to say that she's 100% for a single command of anything, but Sit an Wait for release at the door is *really high' currently without a command. Still have work to do about sitting right in the arc swing of the door... but I'm pretty impressed.

Of course, as I told one of my brothers the other night, I have fun watching her sleep.

A couple of update photos of Dottie (Iye vom Coraschatten) from this last month. Bigger, more leg but very much puppy.

She has her moments of angelic innocence.. okay twice. She has moments that you would swear she is possessed of multiple demons.

But she'll blast across the yard, make a circle around you and plop her butt down by your foot, throw a scan around you and look up with a laugh on her face like, 'What's next?!'

Not sending her back.

:)

A week shy of 8 months old now, 52 lbs and 23-1/4".
A cool bit of concrete with a breeze wafting through the barn at a JGV training day, a very hot... as in, 'do not tell me the temperature', kinda hot.
It's been an interesting 'kindergarten' season for the pup. Practically a mascot but watching and hanging with the big dogs while they train.
My much bigger now, 'Baby Dog'. :)
