New PP pup!

Postby tudoc13 » Sun Sep 27, 2015 6:44 am

Long time Lurker, finally have something worth posting! This is Ruby, an 8 week old PP. She's here after a long time of research and after a deposit on a griffon litter that did not work out. She's adjusting well to her new house, still learning that people aren't for biting. We're keeping it light with lots of fun and praise for now.

Any advice for crate training? She is sleeping in her crate at night (with the usual puppy whining/barking), and during the day I have been using kibble/treats to work on the kennel command and get her to like going into the crate. My specific question is this: Will crating her at night while working on the kennel command undo the progress made?

Thanks, Looking forward to posting more pics as she gets bigger.

Great looking pup.

She'll adopt her crate on her own, no need to force. I've always viewed crates as a device for humans to to establish superiority over their dogs to satisfy themselves. We keep a dog pad in the living room with a couple of dog blankets and the same in a corner of our bedroom. Have never felt the need to confine our dogs or those of visitors, just because I could. I don't keep the dog in a crate when we're traveling either. The dogs ride in style. There's about a zillion folks who'll disagree with me and the others who spoil their dogs to an even higher degree.

What is the registered name of the male? Just curious.

Its hard to find her still enough to take pictures, but here's some more from earlier in the week. She's finally sleeping through the night, and becoming more bold by the day.
