Another homer Q

Postby Urban_Redneck » Fri Aug 18, 2017 4:55 am

I have a bird sitting on 4 eggs, is it possible they are all hers? The eggs are uniform in size and color.

I have had some buddies tell me the same thing. I have not seen it in my loft- but I guess it is possible.

Its possible, its also possible that another pigeon out them there of course. It will be interesting to see if they all survive. Lots of work for mom and dad ahead if so.

Save yourself the trouble and get rid of 2 of the eggs now. I have raised hundreds of homers and never have more than 2 survived. Better to have the food put into just 2 chicks. They will grow faster, especially at the start when the parents are providing crop milk.

You can candle all 4 eggs, and place 2 under a different hen.

Upon closer inspection, two of the eggs appear to be slightly smaller and very light tan in color. I did have some chuckar in with the homers for a few days, perhaps they dropped the eggs?

Highly doubtful theyre all hers. Never in my life seen 4. 3 sometimes never 4. If you have another pair of birds slip the eggs under them, if they all hatch 2 birds will not be able to properly raise 4 babies.
