New(ish) Member and Pup

Postby NC-DD » Mon Oct 10, 2016 4:18 pm

I will start off by stating that I have been a member of the site for a while, I've just been more of a lurker than a poster. I've reached out to a few members directly with questions, and searched through and read years worth of posts. This forum has provided a wealth of knowledge and has been extremely beneficial!

Without any further ado, meet Aubree vom Hartriegel:
Born: 5.15.16 (21 weeks old currently)
All pics (except the one with quail) from the last week.

I hope to keep this thread updated as we progress through our partnership as I have seen other users do. Thanks for viewing!

Pup.....? Doesn't look so good. Better ship it to me. I'll pay half of shipping costs. Consider yourself lucky with an offer like this.

Thanks all! I have really enjoyed watching other's pups grow up and succeed through this forum while I waited for my own DD.

As a first time handler, 'Bree has been more fun than I ever imagined. She amazes me daily :D

"Let her be a puppy, give her the exposure, and watch the light-bulbs turn on"

As a first time owner/handler who didn't want to mess anything up, I had a hard time trusting these seeming cliche words... but now at 5 months old, I'm in awe of my dog. The light-bulbs are coming on for her and she is developing into the dog I knew her breeding should produce... not because I've read 37927 books, manuals, and blog posts, but because she was bred to do the job.

'Bree has really started to open up in the last couple of weeks and has begun to show a lot more desire and systematic approach to her search. She's also showing a lot more desire and intensity when it comes to birds, tracks, and even bumpers. The basic OB is coming along nicely as we work in additional distractions.

Offically 5 months old at this point, here are some updated pictures for the thread.

Thank you-- and congrats on your recent Armbruster finish! I have enjoyed keeping up with Arie's thread over the past couple of years. Hopefully we will have a nice HZP result to celebrate/post about next year too!

A little obedience and socialization update:

We have been working hard and upping the distraction level by taking things outside and into public. I was really impressed with her this morning when we ran through these drills in the house-- her focus and precision have really improved! Proud of my pup :)

Saturday night we ran across a bunch of screaming children and giant rabbits. I'd say she was pretty un-phased... me on the other hand...
