I have quite complex conversations. :) My female DD seems to enjoy them and really listens. My PP always wags his tail and gets excited, thinking he will be fed. ;)

I do. I think we inadvertantly taught him to "talk" back though. He's the most vocal dog I've ever heard and is constantly making long low howl/yawn type noises in response.

Talk to em....?
Heck yeah, they understand ME completely.
Vocal commands given in repetition will give you the results you need.
Just add a little patience to the mix.

I talk to mine all the time. They know what I am telling them, even though, Tucco will give me the big FU....up until I throw a GDamnit in there....then he does what he was told. Gotta love a dog that will just give you the finger until he won't.

Mine understand me even when I give the wrong command. At least one of us knows what they are supposed to be doing!

Yup, but not half as much as my wife does. The older they get, the better it goes.

All the time, we argue about American politics almost all the time. She knows 10 am when it is time for a walk, breakfast and dinner time, and has an opinion on just about everything.
