Dog Protection in the Field

Postby SwitchGrassWPG » Thu Sep 21, 2006 8:38 pm

Can a dog wear boots or chest protectors while running in a test because the field is in rough condition?

Me:
No, he is serious. I tested a dog that I should have booted first. They had no business using the field they did for the field work. It was full of tumbleweeds and my dogs feet were bleeding from numerous cuts and pokes. This was after a winter of chukar hunting so she certainly wasn't a tenderfoot.

I can see boots in really tough country full of cactus,I ran blaze in nebraska once,he was pulling cactus out of his feet constantly, then he would get them stuck to his nose.It was tough on him.
Now a chest protector? for a wpg? whats the coat for?

Yes...I am serious. I've recently been advised by the hunt test secretary these are higly encouraged for a test I'll be participating in down the road. I haven't seen the field, so I don't know if they are being overly cautious or if the field is truly that rough.

If the "test secretary" recommended them than I don't understand your question.

Like I was saying the only thing I would be concernd about it color. Like if you had a blaze orange dog vest and you were bottom dog. If you had a black one it would be fine, specially if the show secretary said so.
