mngsp,as the am gundog is non retrieveing, eva will be running in it,along with max and blaze, maybe even boise! wait a minute,I have to walk it,so
I will not be running all of the dogs.
Walking tends to limit the number of dogs someone wants to run.

Dennis,

Having seen my pup, you know where I'm coming from.

First priority is FT. A lot of the specifics depends on how he matures out. Right now, he runs really big in one stake and quarters in the next. He's got a lot of maturing to do.

Second priority is DC. We're going to fit it in as FT allows. He might do it, he might not, but we're going to give it a shot.

After he does whatever he can in FT, I'm going to do MH. I'm blazing the trail, learning the ropes, etc. with the older dog now.

He's got a NA-1 with 112. So, I'd like to try for a UT at some point. But, I don't know if I will, practically, ever be able to get in all the water-work training that UT requires. Pretty hard to keep ducks in the x-urbs.

Week after next, we'll get his hips and elbows OFA x-rayed. Got to send off for a DNA package, keep my eyes open for some of the eye, heart clinics, etc.

Best,

Greg J.

VeeeDawgers-

On this thread about Testing/trialing- speaking from my own experiences-
nuts and bolts wise training dogs to be broke is the same no matter what Club Hat you're wearing. A broke dog is a broke dog. You can't win a field trial nor get a 4 in the field sequence for UT/VC without a dog that stands a bird. Training early on is all basic. We train our FT burners to stand a bird the same as we train our UT/MH dogs.
Crossing over- FT-MH-UT
We have come to the conclusion that you can cross over and do multi-venues with a good pointing/running candidate. Difficult but possible.

Good luck training- with whatever group you choose.

yawallac- YEP- it all changes once you get your own horse!

Field Trial wise. I agree. It's a disease-
Symptoms-
Glassy eyed stares toward the horizon looking for an away longtailer-
The yearn for long edges-
Bow legged walk-
Sweaty wet leathery smell-
Urge to sign out- Heeeey Yuppp daaaawg Heeeey

It's contagious, so watch out!
