Acme Whistles

Postby barkster » Mon May 30, 2016 12:27 am

I'm reading "Total Recall" by Pippa Mattinson and she recommends the Acme brand whistles for recall training. I know that the 210.5 and 211.5 are very popular. Which frequency do you guys prefer? Thought I would get some suggestions before purchasing.

A great read, isn't it??

I just bought the cheap plastic whistle from lion county supply, and bought 8 of them so I always have one with me. One in the car console, one on the kitchen counter, in my vest, my bumper bag... You get the idea.

Little hint...

... attach a whistle lanyard to your lead.

I always have my lead anytime I have my dog out of the house.

If Acme products are good enough for Wily E. Coyote, they're good enough for you.

I've tried lots of different whistles. The Roy Gonia special is by far my favorite. I use the one with the pea. I know some people prefer whistles without peas because they claim they can freeze in cold weather. But I've never had that problem, and I think the one with the pea produces a better sound.

I don't always use the same leash, or any leash.

I use Dual Tone whistle. I train a single toot on the pealess side for Whoa and two on the pea side for Come. It works but I do not know how the volume compares with Acme.
