Holy HeadShrinkers BATMAN.....!

First they went from 50 lb BAGS to a 40something, then they hoodwinked us into a 37.5 lb in the dark of the night,

Now in a Covert Palace Coup they got us again with a 34 lb bag!

We cornered Pat Lamantia, PURINA rep, at a Pointier Championship a while back when they first altered the bags and he assured us PURINA was aware of the backlash and would make amends.

The Performance Mix is "still" 37.5lbs at least....

34lbs bags....coming from a guy who uses almost a bag a day that changes all our ratios.

What izz da deal?

Its a bad feeling when you watch a $50 bag of good disapear in a matter of min. Finally got fed up and switched to Diamond Hi-pro 2 years ago with great results.

I switched to Kirkland for 6 months, price wise its great, but The dogs crapped twice as much,
it was never solid, and it stunk to the high heavens so I changed back, paying $1,07 a lb for all life stage.

Yea, the Super Premium Adult, green or purple..... One is chicken, mystery bird parts, and the other is mystery meat,....."lamb" Like they served us in "grade school."

I don't feed 100% anything so can't comment on feeding 100% this product...... It's always up to what the dogs will eat and how they respond.....

This may be only my opinion but I would rather pay more for the bag than have the bags continue to shrink! Hell jack the price back up and put it back in a 50 lb bag. I would like to think that most people aren't fooled by the "shrinking bag" trick.

Most generic pet owners, the 10s of millions of them, have no ideal how big the bag is they just know what price they can afford to pay each time.

Many of the super premium foods went to 33 lb bags years ago for over seas sales. Some now are 30 lbs.

I think you can still buy the Diamond Premium 26/18 in the green bag in 50 #. One of the only foods still sold in 50# bag.

This has really been annoying me, too. (all dog food companies, not just Purina)

3-5 years ago when gas was going through the roof, corn was going crazy because the big ethanol push, and virtually EVERTHING was increasing in price, I think consumers understood when dog food manufacturers had to increase prices.

But what is their excuse for the past two years? With the recession, almost everything associated with dog food has dropped in price so, why have prices continued to go up and why are the bags getting smaller? And really, how "sneaky" is cutting 5 lbs off of a bag of food? Do they think people are not going to figure it out? I would rather they increase prices instead of shrink the bag. That is just insulting.

Science Diet Active Adult $1.00 lb. $40.20 for a 40 lb bag. Purina and Science Diet (Hill's) test their products in their state-of-the-art research centers. That's one thing you're paying for.

Don't feed an "All Life Stages" food. Think about it. It's like giving infant formula to a teenager or an adult, or adult food to an infant.

Buy food whose AAFCO statement on the label uses the word "tested", rather than "formulated". Not that easy to find, outside of Purina or Science Diet.

There is little usable information on pet food labels. Ingredients, for example, are listed in order USING WET WEIGHT. The food is dry. How much meat by weight really remains in the final product after the moisture is removed?

5% of what we hear about dog food is true--we just don't know which 5%. The rest is mythology and unfounded assertion.

For you Pro Plan Performance users you might try the Exceed Chicken/Rice 30/20 at Sams Club. It's a lot like Pro Plan and Euk. Performance.
Many on another board like it a lot. Just an FYI.

I tried the puppy version. I believe it was level 2. My dog liked it a little but not as much as Pro Plan. Native is supposed to be a much better quality than Proplan so I will give it another try but with the the adult version since my dog's now 1 y/o.

We love our Native Level 2 and 3. We switch for off season and hunting season.
