Fund Raiser for GSP hit by a car

Postby deyster » Fri Jan 10, 2014 8:09 pm

A fellow GSP owner's friend had their GSP hit by a car during a bird hunt. Their are raffling off a 20 bird chuckar hunt and also doing a 50/50 raffle. If you can help, please do. Here is the information:

As some of you may have already heard, a friend of ours' dog got hit by a car on Monday afternoon during a bird hunt. Bob, Alec, our friend Kyle and our friend Kevin (the dog's owner) had the unfortunate experience of witnessing this. After being rushed to the nearest emergency vet, 20 minutes away, Junior, a 2 year old German Shorthaired Pointer had to undergo surgery to repair his shattered pelvis, and to pin his dislocated pelvis on the opposite side. After losing a large amount of blood, he also had to undergo a blood and plasma transfusion.

Those of you whose dogs are part of their family, can understand how terrible this could be for an owner. The medical bills have already reached well over $6000. To some, surgery may not have been an option, but to someone whose dog is one of the family, you do what you need to do for them, and figure out the rest later.

We felt that we needed to do something to help Kevin and his family ease some of these costs.

We have decided to raffle off a 20 chukar bird hunt at Big R Bird Ranch in York. The winner of the raffle will get to hunt 20 chukar hunt (guided or unguided) (a $400-$450 value), date of the hunt would be flexible to your needs and the availability of Big R Bird Ranch.

For the non-hunters, we have decided to do a 50/50 raffle. 50% of the funds raised from this raffle would go to Kevin and his family and the other 50% would go to the drawing winner.

We are going to be hosting a Wild Game dinner at our house on Sat January 18 at 6pm, and will do the drawings that night. You do not need to be present to win.
