Back in Oregon... just for a few days.

Postby RowdyGSP » Sun Dec 24, 2017 11:13 pm

Came home to visit the folks and friends back in Oregon. Spent the past two days hunting huns with my dad in a favorite spot of ours. Yesterday, Rowdy had 6 points on very jumpy birds, with his dog backing all 6 times as well as finding a covey of her own. Not that she isn't a very capable upland dog, but Rowdy has a 200-300 yard range while hers is around 100. He usually simply just gets to the birds first. Weather was perfect for upland hunting yesterday. 19 degrees, sunny with a slight breeze and 6" of fresh powder on the ground. I ended up shooting 2 huns yesterday. My dad shot 3. This morning we went out to a different area close to where we went yesterday. Weather was a bit colder this morning, at 3 degrees above zero but still a nice day to spend in the uplands. We split up hunting this time and Rowdy pointed 3 jumpy coveys of birds, which I was able to shoot 1 hun out of. My dad also shot 1 bird out of the 3 coveys of birds his shorthair found. A great weekend and great to spend time with my dad for the first time in 6 months.

Good dog work in beautiful country hunting with your Dad. Good for you Sir! And Thanks for posting.

Mthdr pointed me to Imgur for posting photos and I switched from postimage to Imgur. It does a better job of making it easy to size the photos for forums is my limited experience. You might check it out.
