Sage... a great dog, on to the Happy Hunting Grounds

Postby RowdyGSP » Sat Dec 16, 2017 12:53 am

Sage, my old wirehair, has finally gone on to cross the bridge onto the big field in the sky. While I only had her for a year after adopting her, I cherish the memories with her. When I got her, she wasn't house broken, had not hunted in years, and most of all, I fell for her. She is also what made me love the wirehair breed. They are a unique breed of dog for sure. Independent, loving, driven in the field, stubborn at times, and just all-around great dogs. Sage was no exception. That girl loved to hunt. Even though she was deaf and was never collar trained when I got her, we had some fun chukar and mountain quail hunts, although it was mostly me just following her wherever she went, since she couldn't hear the whistle to be called back. In any case, I miss you Sage, and I hope you and Tygh are finding some good honey holes up in the big field in the sky for me and Rowdy.

How nice for Sage that you two found each other and shared some great hunts. Never enough time with our dogs. Sorry for your loss. Be well.

We love our dogs like nothing else on earth then they do this to us. Doesn't seem fair, but life and death isn't fair, just the way it is. I feel your heavy heart and wish you the best.

man, tough year for you. Sorry to hear about Sage. I'm sure you gave her one hell of a hoorah the last year and a half though.

Thanks, tough losing 2 dogs in 7 months, but it happens. Tygh was totally unexpected, but I knew the time was coming with Sage. She couldn't hunt this year but last season about 30 of the 88 birds I shot were over her.
