Eastern Oregon Opener

Postby ForestDump » Sun Oct 08, 2017 10:43 pm

Targeted Huns and got into great bird numbers with a weekend full of awesome dog work. Got 3 small coveys of less than 10 birds each but managed to take one from each covey. Today we moved 15-40 bird coveys and hunted singles. The dog provided me with some can’t miss shots that I of course missed. No birds in the bag for day two but still a great day out.

A couple good lookin' hounds you have there. I miss eastern Oregon... that's home for me and gotta admit... I'm a bit homesick... thanks for sharing. Keep posting the rest of your season!

Sounds like you found the mother lode. 15, 40 bird coveys is like the good old days of Chukar/Hun, mixed bag hunting. Haven't seen that in quite some time.

I like your camp at the lake. Did you have a fly rod?
