Packer at a recent hunt. He is doing as well as can be expected for 11 months.
We need to work on steady! A lot!

Making a dog steady on wild pheasant is pretty tough in my opinion. It will come though. Just shows he has good drive...right?
My pup has a ton of point in him, but he is still busting wild birds because he tries to point right on top of them as if they are a stupid pen raised chukar. The birds won't have any of that this far into the season. Once the pup realizes that never works they will start being more cautious. Just takes exposure and it looks like he's getting plenty of that.
Good Luck.

I have GSPs in my NAVDHA club that point right on top of the bird. Like inches away. Packer points most of his birds from 6-10 feet away! I don't know how he tells the difference between scent and the bird. I just make a really big circle to flush the bird and try to see where he is looking.
