chiendog, since you have seen the Blue Picardy's in action how do you think they would perform in a NSTRA trial? Do they have enough run to compete with the Setters, Pointers, Brittanys and Shorthairs? Do you know if they are natural retrievers and backers?

Beautiful dogs and I bet the guys would really turn their heads if I showed up at one of my NSTRA trials with one. :D

Well, its hard to compete with the best of the best NSTRA dogs, no matter what breed you have. But there are certainly some damn good blues out there that could probably do fairly well in NSTRA type trials...as long as pointing with a level tail or even occasionally 'setting' (laying down on point) doesn't effect the score. There are a couple on them on the french field trial circuit right now that are kicking some serious butt. Here's a link to some photos of one named Brindille (brin-dee). She's won some pretty big stakes and is now a FC. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njz5FKIz_Lc

That said, there are more and more non-hunting breeders producing blues now. Buyer beware!!
