"dual" ESS

Postby pdiddy » Mon Jul 03, 2006 7:51 pm

Hello all,

As far as I can tell, there are, generally speaking, two distinct "types" of ESS: The bench/show ring type and the field type.

I am wondering if any of you have come across breeders dedicated to returning to the breed both good looks/confirmation and hunting ability? This could also be called the "dual" ESS.

Any help/insights you could give me would be great!

I have yet to come across a "bench" bred ESS that can compete in the field with a quality "field" bred ESS. I've seen some people bring their pretty dogs to field trials and just get spanked around by the dogs that might not fit the perfect mold of the ESS breed specifications by the AKC. Look at my ESS and you'd think he's and ECS by his size (he's small) and his markings are more white than anything else (liver, black or roan).
