One final thought....

The only "silver" that should be on a Lab is the muzzle of an old timer.

First we have show people breeding hunting instincts out of the dog so they can win fashion shows. Now you have people screwing with the color of Labs.

Read the standard. Black, Yellow and Chocolate.

If you want a silver tone dog, get a Weim.

Waffenmeister,
you answered for a breed to retrieve and be silver

What about all the other colors I sees "registered Labs" advertised as
... Red, Brown, Charcoal, White, and Cream

Folks are always looking for a marketing angle to those who feel they need something different to be special. But the fact is that all of those "colors" are simply gradations of the yellow color (from "fox red" to "white") or other names for the official color (brown for chocolate). The exception in your list would be Charcoal which I assume would be someone trying to gain an edge over the rest of the Silver advertisers.

If you aren't so sure about this then check the variation in colors for the Golden Retrievers - they only come in one color and that would correspond to Yellow in the Labs.

Still yet to be weaned and the dam's still cleaning up after him at a year old, but I'm more concerned that he'd rather be retrieved rather than retrieve. But he's as utterly plausible as any other "silver Lab"
