puppy shots at 8 weeks

Postby steelcity » Wed Dec 28, 2005 10:20 am

I am receiving a new puppy at 8 weeks old and he is due for shots, is it normal for breeder to pay for those shots before I buy puppy. Or should I expect to pay for those 8 week shots.

You should take the puppy to your vet and pay for the shots yourself.

Puppy Shots

Postby MikeB » Thu Dec 29, 2005 12:18 pm

Has the pup had any shots from the breeder? Many good breeders will start puppy shots at 6 weeks. You need to know what the breeder has done, if nothing at all, then you must get started on them at your vet ASAP. Ususlly shots are given every 3 weeks. ages 6,9,12 wks, or 7,10,13 wks., or 8,11,14 wks.

At 16 weeks or 4 month old you can get a rabies shot but do that on a different day than the last round of puppy shots. Call and talk to your vet as to the protocal he/she recommends. Ask before you get the pup that way you will know what to expect. The office mgr should know too.

I sell them with the shots and they get a vaccination certificate from me/vet.
