Issue with smal litters??

Postby NEIowaHunter » Wed Apr 01, 2015 5:01 pm

Have reserved a male pup (WPG)...the breeder to remain nameless. The dam whelped two pups(one male and one female)....Yes, I know all the possible reasons. One of her kennel mates is due to whelp about a week after the dam that whelped my reserved pup. I was #1 on the list to choose pups for my dam. The breeder said that if I wished, I could be 4th on the list for the kennel mate's male pups, who is "as big as a house", or I could keep my pick. The breeder also says that the two litters of pups will socialized together as soon as that is advisable/possible. My question is: Should I go with the one male from the pair of pups, or opt to go with a pup from the (assuming it happens that way) larger litter? I do have time to make a decision.

Thanks for your help.

If you like the breeding of the first go with that. Sounds like it will be well socialized.

My male came from a litter of 2.... and if I do say so myself... he is the SH!T :D
His breeder did an awesome job of socializing the two pups, probably didn't hurt that he had 5 kids.
If I were you; I think I'd stick with my first choice.

My next GWP is coming from a small litter (3 females) and I'm cool with it. Lots of milk and teat time for each of the little buggers

The only thing pick of the litter gives you is the ability to choose a pup with the markings/colour you like and nothing else. I wouldn't worry about a thing if you have done your research
