Weim Lymph glands

Postby jackson » Thu Oct 30, 2003 9:33 pm

Our Weim had what the vet thinks it was a staff infection in the neck. At a follow-up vet visit she felt the staff infection was gone but his lymph glands were large. She has given him a steroid injection and he is on a different antiboitic. She seems concerned about the lymph glands. Is it possible the staff infection spread to his lymph glands? Is the treatment she has him on the correct way to take care of this issue? Our Weim is only 1 1/2 old. Are other advise?

Thanks for any info

Lymph glands are a type of filter system for the body. They can enlarge through infection, inflammation, immune reaction and worst of all cancerous cells.

Your vet sounds like she is right on the case, trust her.

Talk to Vet

Some weimaraners can be predisposed to hyper-active immune systems. Make sure you have the conversation with the Vet around the topic of Weimaraners Immune issues. Ask if they are aware of and have read up on the topic. Make sure the are fully undrstanding what is going on with this particulur dog, not just give the routine treatment.

If you haven't already, call the breeder you got him from and see if they have any experience with the problem. They may be able to offer direction.

Good luck!
