Paw Joint Replacement

Postby orhunter » Mon Mar 02, 2015 9:41 am

Well, I go in for knuckle joint replacement surgery in less than an hour. Replacing the first and second on my right hand. Been living with pain for fifteen years which has gotten to the point where I can't do much of anything. This is the result of an on the job injury that never completely healed and turned into arthritis.

All sympathy items should consist of PBR and gift certificates for expensive restaurants. Send to, 5770 BFE street, Beaverton Or, 97007. Thanks for caring......

Sorry to hear! I hope you heal quickly. Tell your OT/ Hand Therapist that you need that trigger finger in tip top shape and they'll give you exercises for it.

last night was really something, didn't sleep much. took a couple of oxy's and an ibuprofen at 5:45 AM and hand feels great. the cast and wrap comes off and the stitches come out on the 11th, PT starts that day. Dr. is a great guy. Don't know if he hunts but he fishes and we'll both be in Craig, AK, the last week of June.

Thanks for the well wishes.....

Sloooooooooow. After that first hellish night, I took my last dose of pain meds a little after 1:00 PM the day after surgery. Felt fine if I didn't accidentally bump or bend something. Hand actually looked pretty good when the wrap came off. Not much swelling or discoloration. Fingers very stiff, don't bend worth a hoot and painful to touch. The area of the surgery feels better than the fingers. Have been trying to do too much with the hand and therapist says to knock it off. I can sort of tie my shoes but not easy. Forget trying to buckle a belt around my fat belly. Wearing pull-on workout pants for the time being unless I have help. Gotta spend more time with the heating pad and gentle stretching and keep the brace on in between. Pretty much doing a whole lot of nothing for a while. Need to figure out how to mow the lawn today and fold laundry. Wife unit isn't much help.
