Same here... Can't imagine experiencing this first hand. Still sending good vibes and looking forward to his recovery.

Well my appointment with the surgeon got pushed back to tomorrow. But up to this point, he has healed as well as could be expected. In fact, the last two or three times he had his bandage changed, no sedation was needed. My vet advises that the 4th toe is clearly the worst. Will post an update after I meet with the surgeon tomorrow.

Surgery planned for tomorrow. Pad transplants on toes 3,4,and 5 and amputation of tip of 4th toe to the first knuckle. May slow him down a little, but that will just allow the other dogs to keep up. Ha!

Told to expect a long recovery, but long term prognosis looks good.

Glad to hear the long term looks good!
On a lighter side, we got snow and the mountain got almost 4 feet.

Got a call from the surgeon yesterday. 3rd and 5th toe are healing perfectly. Transplant on 4th toe has failed. They plan to try another transplant early next week.

Two out of three isn't too bad. Fingers crossed the second try takes! Thanks for keeping us updated.

They are concerned the 4th toe may have developed an infection. Going to get a culture and treat with antibiotics before attempting second transplant.

Sounds like things are progressing fairly well, and you know we are all rooting for your pup's full recovery. You certainly are doing everything you can to help him. I never knew they could even do repairs on injuries such as this. What is the donor tissue for a pad transplant? Great that they are able to try to save the 4th toe instead of just taking it off without attempting the transplant. All our best wishes, marysburg.
