Cold Water Tail

Postby Smilin Jack » Fri Sep 27, 2013 5:18 pm

I have been told that after a strenuous trng session or a lot of swimming in cool water can cause an irritation in the joints of a dogs tail . Also that Pointing breed are more susceptible than other breeds . Any one heard of this ??????? :?:

Cold water tail -- Limp Tail -- etc -- etc -- etc is caused by a strain of the sacrococcygeal muscles. Actually water or temperature have nothing to do with it.
It is 'self-limiting' (goes away without treatment) over a period of 5 to 7 days.
It will be gone in 2 or 3 days if treated with Bosswelia Serrata.
Boswellia is a great prevention for it too.... Virtually 100%

It's not too uncommon in any breed of dog that isn't well conditioned.

I had this happen to a dog after doing simple water retrieved all day at the Honor at the Inv. one year. Like Doc said it went away after a couple days.
