( 16Weeks 1 Days) 30.5 Lbs Well, we had a very wet week. Not very many chances to get outside for some training. We did have a couple of sessions that we used to introduce Rosie to remote launched marks. We used our innotek box type launchers. Initially we used a couple of live quail to help get her attention and then we switched to the small Dokken dead fowl trainers. Rosie quickly caught on to this game and we will start using our remote wingers this week. Distance on land marks is no longer a factor. Cover is but only to the extent that it takes longer for her to pick up the mark. Incidentally Rosie has shown a very good habit of sticking to the fall area on marks she does not nail. Water marks are almost to the point of being unlimited. We will start using a .22 cal. dummy launcher to extend water work very soon and this will be quickly followed by wingers from the opposite bank. Rosie again went to a hunt test over the weekend. Rusty was entered in finished and managed to complete his HRCH title. Yes, we are proud of him. He is 21 months old. We used this event as a chance to initiate Rosie with the pleasures of being in the truck box for most of the day. She did well and did not seem to mind at all. No barking either. Whistle commands are fast approaching completion. Most are completely reliable even under distracted conditions. Remote sit is very good and we are working on extended stay. Handler out of sight with pup sitting is also happening. As mentioned last week, just about everything we are doing right now is old news. We are simply firming up skill and turning them into good habits. Call it conditioning if you like. All in all no major changes this week just improvement on a lot of different things For the next diary entry, please visit Week 17 of Rosie's Journal. |
